NanoCardAR: Augmented Reality Business Card

Each year 100 billion business cards are produced worldwide leading to the potential loss of approaching 6 million trees.” [1]
It’s shocking how many trees are cut down due to business cards. What's more shocking is that almost 90% of printed business cards are just thrown away after being received. Also, the information on a business card becomes irrelevant as time goes on. Your company, job title, education, email account, etc. All of this information will most likely change in the future, making existing business cards out of date.
Our NanoCard AR business cards attempt to solve this issue by providing business card templates that can be viewed in augmented reality and an app that makes it easy to change the information in your business card.
We would like you to challenge you to use our planet’s resources wisely. Businesses and individuals don’t need to print a new pack of business cards due to misspelling email address or changing positions, or to try a new design. You can simply change it within an app and keep your printed business cards the same.
Our immediate goals for the application are (i.e. by December 2020):
Design new and creative business card templates for the application.
We are code-geeks, with not much talent for design. We would like to improve our app by hiring artists to design or create concepts for business card templates that take full advantage of the augmented reality features.
Scale cloud architecture
In order to support a large number of users, we would like to obtain more or better machines to host our servers on.
QR Code Integration
Our ultimate goal is to implement QR code integration, which will allow the application to uniquely identify the user and fetch their published business card profile from one look. This will also allow users to save business cards they’ve already seen for later in the app.
We also have the following stretch goals:
Release the application on iOS
Currently, the application is only for Android, and additional work would be needed to allow it to run on iOS. However, we consider this to be a lower priority than the other tasks mentioned above.
Make the application free to download, but to add premium features that can be purchased.
In addition to designing new templates, we would also like to implement an in-app purchasing system to allow dedicated users to obtain premium templates.
