Introducing unda, an innovative and sustainable 3-in-1 lifestyle bottle that converts into a large cup with no parts leftover! It is light, multi functional, durable and easy to clean. Whether on-the-go, at the office, lounging around, the unda fits all your daily drinking needs.
***News: We started production!***
The unda Environmental Vision
The average person uses 190 single-use bottles and 130 single-use cups PER YEAR. More than 90% of these single-use products end up in our landfills, oceans, rivers, lakes, parks, beaches, mountains, and streets. That´s a major problem for our environment.
Reduce: Be Part of the Solution
Prevent single-use bottles and cups is the best we can do according to the European Commission. With unda you can prevent single-use bottles and cups at the same time, plus it has some more advantages that increase the joy of drinking your water or drink.
Reuse: Your unda in Daily Life!
Fill, drink, rinse and repeat wherever you are and wherever you go! With an unda, you always have a big cup and a bottle with storage compartment with you.
The more you reuse unda, the more you can prevent single-use bottles and cups.
Ecodesign and Circular Economy
unda is built according to ecodesign principles throughout all life cycle phases. It is produced using 100% hydropower and is 100% recyclable, but we encourage users to repurpose their unda. Give it a second life - use it as a cup or vase, then spread the word of sustainability on social media!
There are always risks when creating new hardware products from scratch. We spent a ton of time doing research and inspecting every aspect of our idea from market to design to material to production. The water bottle market is not only extremely competitive, but also overflowing with products. That's why it was so important for us to design a product that not only stands out, but also adds functionality that is not available in the market. We wouldn't compromise on our goal of creating a bottle that is multi-functional, sustainable and stylish. To combat the single-use problem, our bottle also had to be ultra-convenient. The research and material testing led us to use Polypropylene for all four parts of the bottle. This material allows the unda to be the light, recyclable, durable and easy-to-wash single-use eliminator. We are very confident that choosing an experienced producer and designer has helped us minimize risks and overcome these challenges. When shipping internationally, there is a risk that backers will have to pay custom fees and regional taxes, despite our best efforts to choose efficient logistic tactics.
We built the unda based on eco-design principles throughout all lifecycle phases, from the preliminary planning stages until the end of life. All four parts of the unda are made with Polypropylene, increasing the overall durability and recyclability. If one of the pieces is lost or broken, replacement parts can be ordered from the website. We chose a reputable Swiss manufacturer with 30 years of experience producing bottles to ensure our product was built with longevity in mind.
drink, reuse, wash, reuse, repurpose, recycle. The goal of the unda is to prevent single-use bottles and cups, and we went into the project knowing that consumer habits are hard to change. So our approach to the design and construction was to create a highly functional and reusable bottle that people would implement in their daily life and continue to use for many, many years. The wide mouth of the unda allows for easy hand washing and dishwasher cleaning, adding to its reusability. No special cleaning products are necessary to clean the unda. The wide mouth also makes refilling and adding ice or fruits to the beverage much easier. We also knew the product had to be recyclable at the end of life, and it is; the unda can be easily broken down to its four parts – by simply unscrewing the various pieces by hand – and is a code 5 recyclable material. The bottle body was constructed to last a lifetime and can be repurposed if the customer no longer wants to use it as a bottle. For example, the unda could be used as a cup or vase, or it could be used to store nuts or dry noodles. In addition, through social media and the website, we are encouraging customers to consider the various repurposing ideas before recycling their unda.
unda bottle needed to be the complete package: multifunctional, durable, safe, reusable, recyclable and sustainable. We spent lots of time researching potential materials. During this material analysis period, we spoke with various government experts, scientists, designers and manufacturers. Through this research we did not find an equivalent material with the same characteristics as Polypropylene. It is BPA free, 100% recyclable, durable, resistant to high temperatures (so the customer can put tea or coffee in the bottle) and tooth friendly, which is important when using it as a cup on a music event. We are constantly evaluating and analyzing our processes, materials, and overall environmental impact.
unda is made with hydropower. That is also an important part of the ecodesign of the unda. Plus, our manufacturer repurposes any and all leftover material. The bottle is built using existing machinery, and the factory upholds Swiss standards for fair labor practices.
unda is made in Switzerland, so it is just a short truck ride for them to reach our European fulfillment center in Germany.
unda is based on product lifecycle ecodesign principles. In the future, we will implement CO2 positive production and support NGO´s that support Sustainable Development Goals to protect the environment.
